Abstract

Nurses are at the forefront of infection prevention and control because of their frequent and direct contact with patients, medical equipment, and clinical environments. Appropriate hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment, safe injection practices, environmental hygiene, and appropriate waste management are essential for reducing healthcare-associated infections. This paper examines the importance of infection prevention and control practices among nurses and identifies factors that influence adherence to recommended procedures. Continuous training, adequate supplies, supportive leadership, monitoring, and clear institutional policies can strengthen infection-control practices. Improving nurses' knowledge and compliance can reduce infection transmission and contribute to safer healthcare environments for both patients and healthcare workers.
