Abstract

Digital health technologies, including telemedicine, mobile health applications, remote monitoring, and electronic health records, have transformed the delivery of healthcare services. These technologies can improve access to healthcare for populations living in rural and underserved communities by reducing geographical barriers and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare professionals. This paper examines the role of digital health technologies in improving healthcare accessibility, continuity of care, and patient engagement. Particular attention is given to teleconsultation, remote diagnosis, digital health education, and mobile-based disease management. Despite significant benefits, challenges such as limited digital literacy, inadequate internet infrastructure, privacy concerns, and disparities in technology access remain important barriers. Strengthening digital infrastructure, improving health-worker training, and implementing appropriate data-protection policies may help maximize the benefits of digital healthcare. Digital health therefore represents an important strategy for developing more accessible, efficient, and patient-centered healthcare systems.
